It’s time for another episode of Five Favorites!  In this series, we pick our five favorite drone videos from the past month and talk about them for a bit!  There are no real qualifications for our selections – these are videos we liked and wanted to share with the community.  Ready to jump in? Let’s get to it!

Johnny FPV: Proximity Heaven

In some of the best proximity footage I’ve seen, Johnny rips up a forest and comes home with some amazing footage.  Tall trees are going to be a theme throughout this month’s video, but you are going to be hard pressed to find proximity flying like this in any environment.  The sideways twists are intense, and the flow throughout the video is insane.  The pacing is solid, with good breaks above the trees to match the music.

This is definitely the video to check out if you want to be envious of some freestyle skills – great footage all around!

Jordan Temkin: David Wright House Lightrax

I’m a huge fan of Lightrax courses, and Jet brings us an awesome combination: glowing race track, cool architecture, and smooth flying.  The course is beautiful – looping around and under a spectacular house lit only by the race gates.

As always, Jet’s flying and music choice perfectly blend together to create an awesome viewing experience.  I love the drops from above into the course, as you get a better idea of the layout before he tears up the track.  Great twists, turns, and loops through a range of gates.  It looks like there is a ton of variety in the course layout, and you can tell that it would be a blast to fly!

Ernie FPV: FPV in the Valley

For your relaxing footage this month, Ernie FPV brings us a meandering session in the woods paired with some chill music.  This smooth freestyle session is accompanied by a great track from Boards of Canada and, like Johnny’s video, some tall trees to fly around!  Ernie has a great use of space between the open field, trees, and tower.  Whereas Johnny’s video was more in the trees, we have more loops and dives around the forest rather than through it.   The loops are high and super controlled throughout the video.  I hope that we see more flying in this location from Ernie, as it looks like it’s full of potential!

Flux FPV: Adrenaline Rush

Flux FPV brings us an absolutely stunning mix of footage from multiple vantage points.  The transitions are killer here – you can tell a ton of time was put into gathering and editing together this footage.  I love the seamless cuts between the ground, Mavic, and freestyle shots.

Flying-wise, we get yet another fantastic location, complete with some cliffside dives, more trees, and some low to the ground flying.  In addition to the freestyle flying, their Mavic captures some breathtaking footage that helps show the scale of the location.  This is definitely my personal favorite footage of the month due to the smooth editing!

SegFPV: Weekend in the Sierras

SegFPV shared this video with me early in the month, and it stuck with me over the last few weeks.  In this video we get some beautiful footage of various locations in the Sierras.  Again, we get more tall trees, but these are special.  Huge redwood trees make an appearance here, and I particularly love the shots flying around some of the fallen trunks.

Overall a great mix of footage.  We get some cinematic orbiting shots as well as some killer freestyle between two bridges.  August was definitely the month for great tree freestyle, and SegFPV’s clips are a great way to round out our Five Favorites list for this month!
